Parenting is such a difficult job. You've got to try to protect your kids from the ugliness of the world as much as you can, but still also maintain their trust by not lying to them. This gets especially tricky when dealing with the matter of death and loss, which are extremely important - but also emotionally fraught - subjects to deal with. One false move here and you could end up paying for years of therapy down the line.

This mom definitely came close to traumatizing her daughter after she accidentally slipped up and let her know that Bob Ross, whose lovely painting videos were part of their nightly routine, had passed away many years ago. This was understandably pretty upsetting to the young girl at first, but thankfully the mom was able to recover gracefully and it sounds like the daughter actually ended up appreciating her honesty.
